The first step in building your web identity is to get a website.
There are really 3 things you must decide to get a website.
1. Domain name -
Pick a domain name for your business. your company name is probably the safest bet if it is available. Always try to get the .com but the .net or .biz will work. It is always good to have keyword about your business in the domain name (bestwebdesign.com) but not always practical.
2. Design your website - You have lots of options here.
a. You can find a web designer to build your website ($500-2500).
b. Get a template and build yourself or find someone who can help you ( $100-250)
c. Do It Yourself
Decide how you want to do maintenance for your website. You or Developer $
3. Get a Hosting Company to host your website. You have lots of options here to.
All Web Hosting Companies are about the same. Personally I prefer a company that has live phone Tech Support because you are always going to have questions. Be careful with the unlimited space gimmick. Most websites are under 1MB so who wants to pay for unlimted if you are not going to use the space? I also like to have POP3 emails bob@yourcompany.com) This is very important from a branding and credibility standpoint.
I hope these tips will help you in the Web Site Action Item.
